ARIEL'S WEDDING

#Day29 #Soulcraftpoetry #Napowrimo2022 # QUADRILLE ---a poem with exactly 44 words                 ARIEL'S WEDDING Underwater garths of incandescent bulbs  Comes alive with pulsing wispy tails of electric ribbons, Lighting up the depths of the ocean as they glide along,  These bouquets of a mermaid's wedding.  They sparkle, tentacles eveready to strike anyone who is in their territory wrong.

MORPH

# Day 28 #Soulcraftpoetry # NaPoWriMo 2022                             MORPH Rippling, gushing, bubbling, calm Camping beside brooks and lakes  Are a soothing salve, to my soul, a comforting balm Water is healing,in return it nothing takes… Roaring, rising, crashing, tempest Wrath of nature is sometimes at its mightiest Sweeping, suctioning and ravaging in its wake Floods and tsunamis are a vengeance of mother earth… Treasures and sunken ships in its depths hold the oceans and seas Untold sea life and marine creatures skim and swim in briny blue bliss Coral reefs and colourful fish make an underwater wonderland Filtering dappled light shimmers cyan and turquoise so grand In its depths I feel like a mermaid Turning and pirouetting without gravity holding me back I can glide and twist to my heart's delight… Cocooning and enveloping me in its loving embrace, water is all welcoming Pic Courtesy: Pixabay ©️ Sangeetha ...

SAN AND THE SNOW-BIRD

# Day 27 #Soulcraftpoetry #NaPoWriMo2022  Prompt #Create a mythical creature of your own and write a narrative poetry on this creature                 SAN AND THE SNOW-BIRD In an icy hamlet with a wintry fairy tale, lived a snow-bird who sang sweeter than a Nightingale.  She warbled at daybreak to a girl who always had a song on her lips and wore rainbow tiaras for hair clips.  "Weren't you the one, once so happy and bright? Did the dark side of the moon steal your sunlight?" "I'm San, Neptune's beloved child Who naively glided through a wonderland mild With a flawed cast-iron heart shield, merrily wild." Snow-bird cooed, "What did transpire, dear? Are you in some icky quagmire?" "My life's a cryptic screenplay I'm a dilapidated puzzle, jigsaw pieces all in disarray. 'Twas supposed to be my wedding day. He never did show up on time, When the bells at 8.30 did chime." To the snow-bird, it was easy to discern, That a chirpy ...

Facing the sun, the shadows behind her Oblivious to dark shapes, they don't matter! Blooming brightly radiating bonny character She grounds herself out of strong will power and choice, her sways don't falter Three cheers for these aureated flowers Standing majestically as tall towers! Deep roots they grow, drink from the rain-washed mud They're the bounty of every meadow bloom or bud Muses of canvas paint, easel  I stand on tiptoes to give a her a sky of blue pastel… Pic Courtesy:Pixabay ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

AT MY PACE

# Day 25 #Soulcraftpoetry #NaPoWriMo2022 #Poetry Heals                       AT MY PACE Those wrinkled hands, they spoke volumes You patted my back, caressed my head Applauded for me and also held my hand tight You were my pillar of strength and my rock, a gemstone lustrous bright. In your eyes I saw the sun, moon and all the stars You were my universe and my world In your embrace I felt nurtured and loved Could I ask for more when you could read my mind… We were oceans apart waiting to reunite Hoped that my holidays this year would be jolly and merry I reminisce the good times we had together Beneath cerulean skies with laughter and cheer How can I celebrate in solitude? I need lots of will power and fortitude. The table is set with rich plum cake Seven course dinner and eggnog shake Our Christmas tree sparkles with lights and a golden star But you're in the blue beyond, so far… Pic Courtesy: Pixabay ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

PIGGY PORK AND CATHERINE CAT

#Day 22 #Soulcraftpoetry #NaPoWriMo 2022 #Animal poetry     PIGGY PORK AND CATHERINE CAT "There have been a spate of copycat robberies in this neighbourhood", grunted Piggy Pork.  "The cat burglar could only be my neighbour, Catherine Cat, it looks like a feline handiwork!" "That's hogwash! Don't be so pig-headed! Do you have any proof, you dork?!" "There's more than one way to skin a cat!" insisted Mrs. Pork, "Let's take her to the pigeons! She won't have a cat in hell's chance to escape judgement, hope they throw her into the dungeons!" Cat is thrown among the pigeons who preside over a jury.  Midway through, Piggy Pork ambles in apologetically with her pearl necklace, much to everyone's fury "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I found my necklace in the pigswill. Catherine Cat…I'm truly sorry…" "That's what happens when you cast pearls before a swine, You made me a guinea-pig for your...

LUCID

#Day 21 #Soul Craft #NaPoWriMo 2022                       LUCID Here I am! How did I get here?! I hear whispers of the waves Songs of the seas Music of faraway lands, is it possible to hear all these? Is this a dream? Or am I awake? Last I remember, I was by a placid lake… These shores of primrose-hued sand Glisten in the noon sun, the breeze is briny, but I want a spot of cool, shady land… I hope this nightmare ends soon I miss my tree, my sister leaves and all the pretty bloom Let me go back to sleep again When I wake up, I will my land and family regain… ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

OH, NO! SCIENCE!

#Day17 #Soulcraftpoetry #Science OH, NO! SCIENCE… Most loathsome subject in high school was science All the doctors and engineers in my family couldn't get me to change my mind nor in anyway influence! Math was my dyxlexia four plus four was nine I couldn't solve a sum to save my tiny life so delicate and fine! The knocks and whacks I recieved in exasperation Only fuelled my distaste for it in nosediving frustration Trignometry, geometry, algebra… I don't care who is A, B, Y's X or if a giraffe married a zebra! Diameter, radius, Pythagoras theorem Weekend afternoons were bogged down with tuitions oh why am I fated to this boredom! Cylinders, cones, prisms and rhombus Trignometry, symmetry and mind-numbing Calculus.. Beakers, test tubes of nauseating acids with poor live frogs pinned ready to dissect! It was repulsive to a teenager who'd never harmed an insect… "If a biology lesson is your Achilles heel, you can't become a surgeon!" "Never you mi...

Pickled Peppers

#Day 16 #SoulCraftPoetry_NaPoWriMo 2022 #Pickle "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers..." Was the first tongue twister which drove me to uncontrollable laughter When grandma had narrated it and showered with me tickles And said you must master it no matter! Summer afternoons were spent chopping lemons and mangos raw At times cabbages and carrots for a cool dip coleslaw I'm in a pickle, I'm in a soup she taught me to say "These were just idioms" she told a scared wide-eyed me "and not literally, anyday!" Jars and bottles were filled with love Chunky pieces to savour when cold monsoons showered rain from above Tangy, spicy, sweet and zesty  A myriad of flavours exploded on the palate oh! So tasty! I crave for your homemade creation Fervently trying to follow your recipe instruction I realized the blend was not in the preparation  But, It was your love poured into it with utmost devotion! PAPER

#Soulcraft_Napowrimo 2022  #Paper You're always there for me A listening ear A dear friend, a child, a cherished lover In all shapes, sizes and colour I adorn you with embellishments diamantes, pearls and bows Sometimes whispering gossip, passwords and codes In my jubilation I tell you I'm on seventh heaven or cloud nine Or even on days when I'm blue and not feeling fine I rave, I rant or vent My words flow uninterrupted without a visible dent Available for me any day any hour I tell you my dreams, hopes, nightmares or whatever… Does it tickle when I scribble sweet nothings on you? Tee hee… Or does it hurt when the pencil cuts too deep? I can mould you, I can shape you Make a rabbit out of you, a boat or a flower! Oh Mon Amour, Paper! SITTING DUCK

#Day 11 #soulcraftpoetry_napowrimo #NamMan                                              SITTING DUCK Love came fluttering by on a cold day wintery Riding on diaphonous wings of a dragonfly wispy The charms he exuded floored me The attention he showered swept me enormously I looked in the mirror and couldn't imagine What a dashing man like him saw in a mangy duckling like me without any sheen The swans in my river wondered too Warned me that he's out to make a fool out of you Electric rage coursed through my veins Lashing out furiously at them I said they were envious of me, I'm no bird-brain! He's my prince and I will rule one day beside him as a queen Their smirks and hoots reverberated in the air Humiliation was rife, I lunged at them and a feather or two viciously tear There were quacks and squawkes, shrill ear-splitting howls like canine packs Left alone, isolate...

GOOD DAY, GOOD TIME

GOOD DAY, GOOD TIME! Friendships, picnic baskets, pet parrots, pet dogs, mystery, secrets and adventures I'd read them all and at one point of time even longed to go to school at St. Clare's or Malory Towers Snubbing anyone who told me that these were fictional places.  Such was my devotion to Enid Blyton, the goddess of children's story books read by people of all ages!  Over my school going years I'd collected a few, and read almost all from the local library  It was a marvellous world of fantasy of magic, fairies, animals who could talk and wizardry! Time itself rewinds back to my own childhood when I thought that everything was 'Sunshine and Roses'. I would read them anytime when I needed another world to escape into, from the harsh reality of this one; it was my vital potion in big and small doses The books would stay put in my bookshelf forever.  So excessive was my fondness for Enid Blyton stories that ended in happily ever after! I pull out a 'Wish...
