THE SHAPE OF MY LAST DAYS

Self Discovery 30 Day Writing Challenge Day #13 If today was your last day, what would you do? Alright! For me, that's a very abstract question.  Let me start from the very beginning of 'Last Days' that I had. ✨Last day of Kindergarten---with a very snobbish air, I told the Year 1 kindergarten kids that I was going to Primary 1 next year and wear uniforms to school.  "I'm a big girl now." ✨Last day of Primary School---I was  indifferent.  "Huh! High school is next on the cards. What's the big deal! If anything, maybe I will have more subjects to study."  ✨ Last day of High School---I jumped for joy! And also had mixed emotions to part from childhood friends. " I made it! Survived the board exams. What's the next step? I must choose my stream in Pre-Uni carefully. It will make or break my life"😅 ✨Last day of Pre-Uni--- I had settled into the grind and at the same time I was deep in  thought "Will this saga never end?! The nex

WANDERLUST

Self Discovery 30 Day Writing Challenge Day #23  What would your ideal day look like? As ideal as ideal can be! That could only exist about some four decades back when the air was clean and fresh, when there was greenery all around and when houses were homes.  My days which I remember from my early childhood were just that. Nothing but cheery and carefree.  Only a distant memory now or a like long- forgotten dream I cling on to those hopelessly.  But they are not gone in vain because those were remarkable enough to replay in my mind, even after a generation..! Hypothetically speaking, there's nothing to beat living in an idyllic countryside in a cottage with skylights and clumps of flowers and lush trees  all around it.  Surrounded with snow capped mountains and deep pine woods, I would be one with nature listening to the hooting of the owls at night and only the rustling of wind through the leaves.   With no clocks, alarms would be non existent in my world, and I would only wake

STAY...!

STAY...! In my dreamy world of cheery cottages and fairy rings Soft snow in albastrine translucence floats as it sings I'm homeward bound after an arduous journey The skies are blue-gray, puffy clouds marking my destiny Snowmen stand sentinel by the path least trodden Mutedly welcoming me, a traveller long forgotten… A sunlit glitter adorns, a blanket of bluster shrouds  My footprints... You're home! they say, stay away from the crowd The hearth and fireplace cocoons me with a comforting warmth Reminds of me of days spent scampering in the basement beneath Dusty film carpets the floorboards now Echoes abound of playful gaeity, but there's no happy show... Memories retreat like footprints fading I keep the embers alive, stoking them; prodding Lest one day I find they're forever gone Leaving me clueless and all alone... There's a thrill in the air, my home knows me I knew you'd be back, this is your retreat and sanctuary! Rime-spangl

I'M BACK HOME

Somewhere over the rainbow is my distant dream long forgotten to times in-between The promises we made, the love that we shared,  Sparkle bright in the argentine yonder sacred The galaxies swirl with hopes renewed, a constellation is born for me alone! A thousand suns marvel at the celestine boons In all benevolence glows the incandescence of umpteen nameless moons Stars dazzling in an archway splendid, welcome me, for I was gone many days The rainbows are of a myriad hues, seven colours are only earthly dues Music untold contains the ether, the twang of the harps lures me in further Radiant beings with halos and wings, stand majestically to usher me in! The pearly gates swing wide open, inside I see my long lost dears Dear child, we've been waiting for you, you've done well in your earthly mission, you're back here! The skies above me are an aureate sheen, Sometimes lilac, lavender, mauve or even pastel green My home is a gold-domed castle with citadel and towers The bou
