CRESTING SILVER

CRESTING SILVER  There’s something about the moon-soaked night The tops of trees look star-spangled bright Glimmering waters ripple in the breeze Reflecting your luminescence in the oceans and seas You're loved by the cloudy-massed skies Like I do our conversations about truth and lies Despite your imperfections you're glorious Cresting smile of silver so lustrous Beckoning moths like they go to a candle flame The night comes alive in a fairy ring when tinkling bells announce their name Just like you i go through phases; wax and wane A day will come when i become full again and shine in my fame. ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Pic Courtesy: Pixabay

AVNI

AVNI Out in the forests, the grasslands, beyond hills and streams much further I raise my cubs in a lone manner, I too am a mother Vulnerable out in the savage wild I'm but only a nature's child... I only protect my cubs from barbaric beasts--- the poachers and the hunters  Instead, you set out on a witch-hunt branding me a vile man-eater! I had brothers and sisters, one of them was Avni… Cubs and children large in number...so many! Orange and black, stripes white We are truly a majestic sight Few in number, today we are at your mercy… Does our fur take your fancy? Our heads and skin adorn your walls Gentle reminder, humans! The netherworld awaits you with seven deadly gateways and morbid halls. ©️ Sangeetha Kamath  Pic Courtesy: Pixabay

ASHEN BLIZZARD

ASHEN BLIZZARD City streets without farms and pastures Whispering to the clouds are the tallest  skyscrapers  Bright Friday dusks and spinning lights Dimming the sea of stars even from dizzying heights Grey fills everywhere, a curtain of smog hazard Swathing the suburbs in an ashen blizzard  City of glass and dead weight concrete  Streets packed with cabs and rushing feet A million beating hearts not to be trusted  Ambition tugs at the core, while emotions  are frosted Sleepless nights and restless days Unfamiliar roads, from home so faraway  Sighs echo and silence screams Is this the city of my dreams? ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Pic Courtesy: Pixabay

WISPS OF BLUE

NO MERCY  "I can't believe it's already July. It's been a long wait…" The clock was ticking to the appointed hour. Midnight was such a fascinating time. With her hood pulled up and arms crossed, Pippa leaned against the broad trunk of a tree. The 'Buck Moon' shone more than brightly this night. So fascinating and powerful. It was twenty past the agreed time. With an impatient glance at her watch, she kicked at a loose pebble in frustration. She was about to walk away when she heard a crunch of leaves beneath brisk footsteps. "Pippa…I'm here…Sorry, I'm late." Pippa appeared from behind the tree and took lazy strides towards him.  "Oh there you are!" He walked towards her excitedly. He would make this night memorable for her! Midway through his thought, he felt a sharp jab and a warm stickiness on his...

TURQUOISE GOWNS

TURQUOISE GOWNS Of the rolling deep and crashing waters Ocean waves soaring tempestuous  Pulling tides on sun warmed shores In the swell of the surfs their voices roar Dancing sunbeams on the turquoise and teal Glimmering in the distant horizon and the bay tranquil  Mirroring moonglade on the silver washed quays Briny spray on the windswept breeze On the white sands and primrose grains gush billows of magnificence  Like a weary child I sit by them in solace and silence Calming my worries in her embrace Retreating with my miseries in her fold to bury it in the deep blue graves. ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Pic Courtesy: Pixabay

FROSTED RHAPSODY ( published)

FROSTED RHAPSODY  The sky is a celebration of indigo, the moon of gold On the onyx black, the stars thrum luminously bold The obsidian inkiness of the heavens is lit by a scintilla of daisies   Glinting like crowns of gliding angels or gossamer wings of pixies   On the sweeping lea of the velvet skies amethyst  A frenzy of glitters spritz in the summer breeze Every star is a queen on the night's darkest throne Diamantés and sequins on her sable regalia bridal gown Diamond dust drips from a celestine, jewel encrusted necklace Rolling like a choreographed masterpiece a wave of galaxies Motifs of every prayer sent above are embroidered on the infinite tapestry  Wrapped in halos shimmering on the edge of a frosted rhapsody  With distant calls and silent wonders They're snowflakes of the cosmos whispering dreams on crystalline tendrils  Tears of the moon dripping on heaven-spun poetries They hum ballads of the constellations and untold stories...
