STEEL MAGNOLIAS

STEEL MAGNOLIAS  Glistening in an ice storm with tarnished sirens endlessly burning, she's the chorus of every song Lilting to the notes of operas, she's a crashing wild wave upon the rocks Blazing butterflies in summer, red robins and cardinals in December, sparkle in her eyes cinereal Mad as magic, strumming Gypsy chants and moor canticles,  Her heart beats are hymns of the autumn skies, blue orchids and argent moon slivers Like the gentle streams and the birds that sing, she cruises the world and the seven seas She's the map, a compass leading you to home and hearth…a safehouse and an oasis in arid deserts The monarch and majesty of her love is an endless yearning, a distant reunion as that of the sea and sky on the horizon... The rain and rivers in her eyes, the incessant rustling hum is a madding surging of her turbulent seas In a raw summer of deserts where her seasons don't turn, it's a dawn of the roses as you bleed against he

BOOK REVIEW OF 'THE GIVER'

BOOK 2 OF 2023 THE GIVER BY LOIS LOWRY GENRE: DYSTOPIAN/SCI-FI  The Giver by Lois Lowry is the first instalment in this quartet. The story begins in an unassuming manner with enough hints at a dystopian genre. As the story proceeds you wish ( I wished…) that were were trigger warnings given on various levels. Coming back to that in a while, there is an unreal world out there. They call themselves a community where— People live by the rules and follow them no matter what. People don't ask questions as it's considered rude. Food is delivered at each doorstep and the boxes collected after meals. Children go to school , go to mandatory volunteer duties after school and adults go to work.   Utopian much? Not really! The twists and turns comes in waves. Peeling off each layer unravels the dark setup behind the scenes.  Following a concept of 'Sameness', it's revealed that the population is genetically engineered. It's a black and white world where people are deprived

STAR-SPANGLED TIARA

STAR-SPANGLED TIARA  There was something so delicate about that time When the woods were bathed in ivory moonshine Brooks babbled in the meadows And birds warbled in the trees Lavenders bloomed fragrant in the purple heath Bluebells cast a spell upon the distant hills Wisteria in the valleys were sweetly perfumed In the glens and dwelling places of elves and pixies  Downstream on the banks of rivers lustrous with orange rays Snowdrops and daffodils danced under the cypress Dark clouds rolled drenching the deep greens and all the flowers And vibrant tiaras were scribbled on the pearly heavens In the wilderness of the moors I followed the end of the rainbow To find the elusive pot of gold and shamrock gardens  The mellow light upon your face under unspent silver sunshine  And in the frozen mist in the heart of winter My heart danced and my dreams were star spangled When I found you there with a bouquet of roses instead.
