IF

# Day 28 #ArtoonsinnPoetryParlour # If                                 IF If I could wish upon a star,I'd ask the heavens to send you back to me. If wishes were horses, I'd turn back time. If I could fly, I'd disappear to Neverland… Perhaps meet Tinkerbell and Peter Pan? If I had a crystal ball, I'd find you and seek you…never let you go If I could slide down a rainbow, I'd get that lucky pot of gold and give it all to you… If dreams could come true, I would want to stay there forever with you. Or steal you from them 'cause I need you more Can you hear me when I call for you? Beseechingly my voice rents the air on this side but are you aware as you walk away to the other? The barrier between us is a soundproof air mass…  I wish I could hear you one last time as you say  To help you sleep better, have warm milk in a full glass." "Let me tie up your hair, you won't feel hot on a summer day…" I ...

#Day 26 # ArtoonsInnPoetryParlour #NaPoWriMo2022  Prompt #Dolce far niente---pleasant idleness/the pleasure of doing nothing.             EVERYTHING'S FAIR IN LOVE Everything's fair in love...self-love, self-care While I steal some moments at dawn, at the rosy-hues I stare. I grab a chunk of time to write a poem and lay my heart bare Holding my favourite read and sipping a brew from a prized chinaware Or relishing butterscotch with a spoon silverware Oh! it's for a special occasion, I'm well aware Am I not unique too, exclusive and rare? My self-care isn't selfish, self-centred, nor should it be your nightmare I rejuvenate my mind, body, soul, it's my welfare So in turn my optimal happiness with you I can share Pic Courtesy: Pixabay ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

JUGHEAD

#Day 24 #ArtoonsinnPoetryParlour #NaPoWriMo2022 #Jugaad                         JUGHEAD Jugaad jugaad jugaad This is a word so common and widespread But I'm really at a wits end to write a poem on this instead I've mastered the art of baking cake and bread I don't know what'll I do if I don't find an ingredient… Makeup jugaad is the best…bored of the same foundation and blusher? Use your favourite shade of lipstick and blend in  A new trend I sometimes usher… Glues drive away my blues Chipped nails before a major occasion Called in for desperate measures of adhesion Paint it over with a fresh coat, add glitters in place to conceal the scission Oh jugaad in my hurried read I'd read you first as Jughead My favourite character from Archie's and friends Is there any way to bring back the good old childhood days which among all transcends? GONDI

# Day 23 #ArtoonsinnPoetryParlour #NaPoWriMo #Write a poem with a favourite word in your native language.                             GONDI Through star-studded swirling galaxies and constellations celestine, You chose me dearest GONDI when you floated down merrily on gossamer wings and a bejeweled chariot of gold pristine! The stars sparkled a notch brighter, the moon shone like the empress of pearls argentine! In a firework of meteor showers and starbursts, the heavens celebrated your arrival The violet empyrean looked like a divine carnival! Wistfully waiting to see your bonny face Futures foretold us that you would bring in a majestic phase One gaze into your honey brown eyes  And I could drown in pools of caramel skies! Your smiles and laughter are a birdsong chorus, The gurgling and coos whipping up rainbows miraculous A name I call you my fairy, my angel You're my dazzling light, my twinkling star-spangle!...

#Day 20 #ArtoonsInnPoetryParlour #NaPoWriMo2022 THERE'S AN ETERNAL SUMMER IN A GRATEFUL HEART There’s an Eternal Summer in a Grateful Heart “I am pleasantly surprised when you know my name even before I introduce myself,  I’m immensely overwhelmed when you are happy to see me early in the morning Greeting me with enthusiasm—a great show Cheerfully jumping up and down with a pitter-patter of tiny feet Pretty lasses in pigtails and bows Boys with their favourite toys in tow… I’m divinely blessed when you come up to me with your teeny-tiny snack boxes Wanting to share a biscuit with me, a piece of sandwich or a potato chip. It’s with a heavy heart that I refuse to partake of it  I tell you have your full fill of it yourselves… When you share your deepest thoughts and classroom squabbles and fallouts with me, Trusting my judgement to solve it for you, truly honoured I feel…  When I meet you after the weekend only gap of a couple of a day or two… I feel extra special wh...

THE PHOENIX

Day 19 #ArtoonsinnPoetryParlour #Napowrimo2022  #They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds---Mexican Proverb                           THE PHOENIX I'll never apologise for shining too brightly. Spanning my wings as a raging fire  Or as a mellow glow of a fairy light in the distant darkness, quite debonaire I'll ignite my spark from within like a star born into itself spurting lava Or explode… leaving trails of cosmic dust like a Supernova I will be the Sun creating galaxies and constellations.  I will burn like a single flame of the candle to keep my hopes and dreams alive with determination! I will be in my own pace, in my own race I will be whoever and whatever I want to be— A sunflower who lives eternally for a day or a perennial evergreen who survives a winter day. When a flurry comes by, swaying my sides flopping, The seeds I carry within maybe for a while buried Only to give birth to ...

NESTING

#Day18 #ArtoonsinnPoetryParlour #NaPoWriMo 2022 Prompt # "I have asked the sparrows to be quiet today. In respect for the dead, to fidget less and sit, where I ask them to sit." Twigs and sticks, straw and hay W ere collected painstakingly all morning and by the end of the day A basket of comfort padded with leaves was readied for their nestlings to chirp and play A sense of pride bloomed in the tiny hearts of the feathered couple a striking Blue Jay They twittered to each other and with hope they would pray Little did they know a storm was brewing out of nowhere The tree swayed and fell with a crash to their dismay Heartbroken at the sight, they could only screech loudly, their lament to display! Flocks of birds mourned the torment  Pleading for their crushed chicks and  The nests which lay as kindling and their hearts a fragment… Fury had ravaged the canaries and hawks  Leaving behind a trail of cadavers of sparrows, nightjars and larks… Pic Courtesy: Pixabay ©️ Sangeet...

BOOKS AND STORIES

#Day14 #ArtoonsinnPoetryParlour #NaPoWriMo2022     BOOKS AND STORIES      I'm a collector of the old world, outworn, but precious just a bit more I'm a reader of poetries of eras bygone, days of yore At times, the verses are heartbreaking, heartwarming, overwhelming,  Inspiring--- full of wisdom Sometimes, it speaks of blue skies, happy endings, prince charming and his kingdom. After a visit to the library, holding on to my prized books dear Temptation was at its zenith to read it out  then and there Taking a break which was  forty minutes and nine I got a chance to make the best use of this time. Bedazzled by every word,  Turning pages by the dozen and on chapter third I was jolted back into this reality;  it was past noon, it suddenly occurred! Lost in the poet's world, of what he had to convey,  Moments had just slipped, flown away Gone like a wisp.. by and by on this fine day I put away my ...

#Day 13 #Artoonsinn Poetry Parlour #Napowrimo 2022                    ENCORE, JULIET! The stage was set. Draperies in red and gold The tickets were all taken! Like hotcakes they were sold! It was a full house tonight premiering Romeo and Juliet By a new theatrical group excited and exuberant  The audience was in awe,  With sneak peeks and rave reviews of talented actors both seasoned and some newbies raw Except, there was chaos backstage… The lead lady was down with food poisoning. Should they go for a schedule change?! It did look like the show would have to be cancelled! The producer approached the prompter who was well-versed with the lines and pleaded Convinced the shy girl to play the role and save his reputation,  He would be grateful to her a ton and million, in all desperation! Once in costume, she played her part to the hilt!  And a star was born! The audience roared "Encore, Juliet!" ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prab...

A NEW CHAPTER

#ArtoonsInnPoetryParlour #napowrimo2022  #Day 11                    NEW CHAPTER As the new day dawns, the golden rays shimmers through the misty blue I put the day past to rest and watch the sky turn a rosy hue Life blooms where it is planted, even a lotus does, lending beauty to a murky pond I've climbed the steepest mountains, taken the hardest challenge, each step was an arduous walk on burning embers I overcame my fears and naysaying whispers But what the world sees now is only the tip of the iceberg! The heights I've reached may be dizzying, but the view is quite spectacular What haven't I invested…time, blood, sweat and tears— today it's my deserving new chapter  ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

FAIRYTALE FOREVER

#NaPoWriMo2022 #ArtoonsInnPoetryParlour #Day 8 The obsidian skies and diamond dust sparkles Reminds me of the dark chocolate cake I baked you with rainbow sugar sprinkles... Sitting by my window I would reminisce and remember How I had lost you during the monsoon thundershower Seasons passed now it's all over. Comes a midsummer Unexpectedly, I met you in a chance encounter My heart pounded; anxious like a super racer Was I headed towards another heartbreaker? Whether bitter, better or sweeter I went bravely ahead with this matter If destiny meant for us to be together Surely what I'm headed for will not be a disaster I'm glad I took that risk, my dear Now I'm your queen and you, my emperor My heart sings with joy again, I've found my happy ending forever! ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

TERRACOTTA (DAY 6 ARTOONSINN NAPOWRIMO)

The humble amphora vessel shaped by a potter Is the magic he wove on it's curves with clay and earthy terracotta The glaze speaks of a liquid blue sky which my heart can't muster... Fragrance wafts around it from herbs and rosemary planted in a cluster Reminding me of pita bread, basil pesto, iced beverage, fresh pasta... Tender sprigs sprout bursts of dainty purple flowers soaking in rainwater, The crisp medley glinting off aquamarine, mint, turquoise on my ewer! Pic Courtesy:Pixabay ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

PETRICHOR June! Perfume of wild roses and a  meadow breeze played a medley  Winding it's way through my cobblestone alley The air was charged in static shrouds Rich marbled metal skies laden with grey livid clouds They'd burst any moment at their seams Their soul fragmented into a million droplets, drenching earth-parched dreams Petrichor along with floral notes rare Dances a tango in the rain infused fare… Summer flowers drooped in an intoxication of the marvel In the ripples and puddles the symphony of nature would revel There came a feathered visitor, of majestic beauty With a Sapphire and Emerald plumage resplendent A golden fan tail with thousands of mesmerising eyes iridescent! He's the magnificent Mayura, the compassionate Chitramekhala, the pious Parvani Heralding monsoon unfurling his celestial feathers...

STARDUST IN MY EYES!(DAY 3 ARTOONSINN NAPOWRIMO)

  # DAY 3 #ARTOONSINN NAPOWRIMO Alice is not my name  But yet, in a Wonderland I lie... Dreaming of the summers gone by... Lying down on picnic mats and gazing up at airplanes flying up in the sky oh so high! I had read about Tinkerbell and the shimmery wings of fairies, Thinking how thrilling it must be to be able to fly across the starry nights and kaleidoscopic galaxies! I had read about Wendy, Casper, Peter Pan with great enthrall,  Fairies of Summer, Fairies of Spring,  Ones of Winter and even those of Fall. Flower fairies, Tree Fairies and fairies of every kind… Even about witches, the ones who, to Snow-white, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, were unkind. It was a dreamy world. It was a fairy world. Every Daisy, Bluebell or Buttercup might have a fairy hiding in them,I was told. I had come into this world, stardust in my eyes Clutching at a moonbeam. I would patiently look up at the sky to see If Witches fly on brooms on Halloween Or Santa Claus glides by with his re...
