QUARTZ SKIES ( Published)

QUARTZ SKIES Spirit of Asia Contest Theme: The Morning After A Storm                     The gusting winds with primal raw scream Had us cowering as though from a wicked dream Gunmetal gray of the skies and fragmented livid cloud Descended us on like a sepulchral shroud Midnight howls echoed through the city The impact of the typhoon hit us with a ferocity! Rain danced in the streets and whooshed a lot  Uprooting long standing trees to remove the rot Unleashing a fury, the debris was a ravaging sight  Any mortal heart would flinch with fright! Pulsing of neon webs in majestic rhythm Booming across a graphite canvas in thundering tandem The asphalt was a rain-washed charcoal sheen The swirl of the cleansing rain was relentless and mean From the dappled quartz n' mottled empyrean  Cracked ripples of powder blue from a  silver-fade ashen  Warmth of the sun glow was stoic with primrose hue Streaked with tangerine and golden so  welcom

TULIP-O'-PURPLE

TULIP-O'-PURPLE The flower you sent me stands tall in a vase of porcelain The bud clammed close concealing drops of rain It holds a promise of a lavender refrain  The silken petals of webbed lilac veins The stalk a mossy green reminds me of meadows The long walks in the Alps and valleys below I conjure up woodlands and dappled  sunset glow Purple is my favourite colour you always know  The delicate bloom of sweet fragrance Reminds me of an amethyst of lustrous brilliance Swaying in the summer breeze it yearns for a dance A single Tulip in a vase takes a ballerina stance Blooming in full two days later Invites butterflies all aflutter As precious as a fairytale dream It is tinged at the tips in hues of clotted cream Purple is soon brown---a colour of wither... A hardbound diary is used to press and preserve  Along with the card and cherished letter The flower you sent me stays with me forever. Pic Courtesy: Pixabay  ©️ Sangeetha Kamath

AMBROSIA

AMBROSIA  Theme: My Favourite Place The arrival of spring heralded a myriad medley The bees got busy with a triumph of buzzing melody The larks and nightingales warbled a symphony Amid cackling geese flying overhead with their musical cacophony Rabbits and lambs frisked and scampered  With bleats and coos to talk and whisper The floral infused breeze rustled the leaves Chirpy songs floated along with fragrances of ocean breeze Owls hooted and crickets chirped, the toad blared, but 'twas music to my ears! Jocund waves of laughter filled my home When I remembered many days of guitar strumming under a violet dome... The tapping of our feet to a jig, a waltz or music disco We painted a tapestry of memories a la fresco! Music was what you whispered to me, joy when you comforted me It's in the songs of the stars when they serenade the moon... Why are you so far away, my lovely...be mine soon! Under a sapphire blue sky and twinkling stars is my favourite

BIG BAD WOLF

THE BIG BAD WOLF                         Once upon a time, on the fringes of a deep, dark forest there was a quaint little hamlet with cobblestone streets and cozy families, where playful squeals and merry laughter were the only noise from every home. It was an undisturbed, serene neighbourhood…until…                        CHAPTER 1           THE MYSTERY OF THE WOODS                             "This summer day is too scorching, Rae dear. Don't forget to wear your hat when you step out." "Yes, mama! Raleigh, I will give all your love to grandmama. Be a good girl and get well soon!" I wanted to go along with Rae to visit grandmama, but I was feeling poorly that day and was bundled up in bed.  "Rae, child, be careful along the way and don't stop for anyone or talk to strangers. Go straight to grandmama's and return home before sunset." Mama's worries were not unfounded. A child
