Pickled Peppers

#Day 16 #SoulCraftPoetry_NaPoWriMo 2022 #Pickle "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers..." Was the first tongue twister which drove me to uncontrollable laughter When grandma had narrated it and showered with me tickles And said you must master it no matter! Summer afternoons were spent chopping lemons and mangos raw At times cabbages and carrots for a cool dip coleslaw I'm in a pickle, I'm in a soup she taught me to say "These were just idioms" she told a scared wide-eyed me "and not literally, anyday!" Jars and bottles were filled with love Chunky pieces to savour when cold monsoons showered rain from above Tangy, spicy, sweet and zesty  A myriad of flavours exploded on the palate oh! So tasty! I crave for your homemade creation Fervently trying to follow your recipe instruction I realized the blend was not in the preparation  But, It was your love poured into it with utmost devotion! RING THE BELLS

#Day 15 #Artoonsinn Poetry Parlour #Napowrimo 2022 Prompt: "Ring the bells. Ring the bells that still ring. There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in." Dead flowers and withered petals tell a story  They had once bloomed majestically in all their glory Moulded us, the lessons learnt were necessary! Wisdom lies in not dwelling on history, Cherish the experience and preserve them as potpourri. Plant new seeds and watch them grow tall and radiantly Walk through fire wearing that tiara in all it's pageantry! Pic Courtesy:Pixabay ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

PAPER

#Soulcraft_Napowrimo 2022  #Paper You're always there for me A listening ear A dear friend, a child, a cherished lover In all shapes, sizes and colour I adorn you with embellishments diamantes, pearls and bows Sometimes whispering gossip, passwords and codes In my jubilation I tell you I'm on seventh heaven or cloud nine Or even on days when I'm blue and not feeling fine I rave, I rant or vent My words flow uninterrupted without a visible dent Available for me any day any hour I tell you my dreams, hopes, nightmares or whatever… Does it tickle when I scribble sweet nothings on you? Tee hee… Or does it hurt when the pencil cuts too deep? I can mould you, I can shape you Make a rabbit out of you, a boat or a flower! Oh Mon Amour, Paper! BOOKS AND STORIES

#Day14 #ArtoonsinnPoetryParlour #NaPoWriMo2022     BOOKS AND STORIES      I'm a collector of the old world, outworn, but precious just a bit more I'm a reader of poetries of eras bygone, days of yore At times, the verses are heartbreaking, heartwarming, overwhelming,  Inspiring--- full of wisdom Sometimes, it speaks of blue skies, happy endings, prince charming and his kingdom. After a visit to the library, holding on to my prized books dear Temptation was at its zenith to read it out  then and there Taking a break which was  forty minutes and nine I got a chance to make the best use of this time. Bedazzled by every word,  Turning pages by the dozen and on chapter third I was jolted back into this reality;  it was past noon, it suddenly occurred! Lost in the poet's world, of what he had to convey,  Moments had just slipped, flown away Gone like a wisp.. by and by on this fine day I put away my book and looked up to see, All eyes were on me... with intense

ENCORE, JULIET!

#Day 13 #Artoonsinn Poetry Parlour #Napowrimo 2022                    ENCORE, JULIET! The stage was set. Draperies in red and gold The tickets were all taken! Like hotcakes they were sold! It was a full house tonight premiering Romeo and Juliet By a new theatrical group excited and exuberant  The audience was in awe,  With sneak peeks and rave reviews of talented actors both seasoned and some newbies raw Except, there was chaos backstage… The lead lady was down with food poisoning. Should they go for a schedule change?! It did look like the show would have to be cancelled! The producer approached the prompter who was well-versed with the lines and pleaded Convinced the shy girl to play the role and save his reputation,  He would be grateful to her a ton and million, in all desperation! Once in costume, she played her part to the hilt!  And a star was born! The audience roared "Encore, Juliet!" ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

A NEW CHAPTER

#ArtoonsInnPoetryParlour #napowrimo2022  #Day 11                    NEW CHAPTER As the new day dawns, the golden rays shimmers through the misty blue I put the day past to rest and watch the sky turn a rosy hue Life blooms where it is planted, even a lotus does, lending beauty to a murky pond I've climbed the steepest mountains, taken the hardest challenge, each step was an arduous walk on burning embers I overcame my fears and naysaying whispers But what the world sees now is only the tip of the iceberg! The heights I've reached may be dizzying, but the view is quite spectacular What haven't I invested…time, blood, sweat and tears— today it's my deserving new chapter  ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

SITTING DUCK

#Day 11 #soulcraftpoetry_napowrimo #NamMan                                              SITTING DUCK Love came fluttering by on a cold day wintery Riding on diaphonous wings of a dragonfly wispy The charms he exuded floored me The attention he showered swept me enormously I looked in the mirror and couldn't imagine What a dashing man like him saw in a mangy duckling like me without any sheen The swans in my river wondered too Warned me that he's out to make a fool out of you Electric rage coursed through my veins Lashing out furiously at them I said they were envious of me, I'm no bird-brain! He's my prince and I will rule one day beside him as a queen Their smirks and hoots reverberated in the air Humiliation was rife, I lunged at them and a feather or two viciously tear There were quacks and squawkes, shrill ear-splitting howls like canine packs Left alone, isolated and in gloom Scavenger bore down on me I wasn't to know my day would soon end in doom! Like a dem

GOOD DAY, GOOD TIME

GOOD DAY, GOOD TIME! Friendships, picnic baskets, pet parrots, pet dogs, mystery, secrets and adventures I'd read them all and at one point of time even longed to go to school at St. Clare's or Malory Towers Snubbing anyone who told me that these were fictional places.  Such was my devotion to Enid Blyton, the goddess of children's story books read by people of all ages!  Over my school going years I'd collected a few, and read almost all from the local library  It was a marvellous world of fantasy of magic, fairies, animals who could talk and wizardry! Time itself rewinds back to my own childhood when I thought that everything was 'Sunshine and Roses'. I would read them anytime when I needed another world to escape into, from the harsh reality of this one; it was my vital potion in big and small doses The books would stay put in my bookshelf forever.  So excessive was my fondness for Enid Blyton stories that ended in happily ever after! I pull out a 'Wish
