RIDE THE BREEZE

This poem won a Certificate of Excellence in THE PASSION OF POETRY for the prompt 'Fly Like A Bird'. Gliding across the brilliant canvas of cerulean Or the vast expanse of an endless ocean Free from the confines of wired norms and cages Or the painful memories, phases and stages Break free from the shackles and chains Ties and bonds which stifle and restrains Unfold your wings and soar Look towards the light there's much more When winds of change toss and turn When fires of trials crackle and burn Don't stay huddled in a corner in fear Look it in the eye and say I'm brave in voice loud and clear Over the dark clouds is a sun shining bright Even a midnight sky has a stars twinkling in the night Let go, be carefree, go with the flow Destiny will reward you with fortune aglow.

TO LOVE OR NOT TO LOVE

TO LOVE OR NOT TO LOVE! When it came with overblown fanfare, packaged in velvets and satins, Tied with laces, ribbons, diamantes and sequins, You had me floored, you had me stunned... Romance was a word---new, all the others it hands-down outshined! The stars were made of diamond, the moon, of gold In all naivete, I believed all the pretty lies you unflinchingly told... Today, my eyes turn glassy, my heart is a slab of crystalline ice It has fenced itself in, in a thorny cage cowering from all your foolery and malice. Romance is pricey in a world of cheapskate emotions Some days to remember, of high hell and damnations! They're scattered and sprinkled with abandon, frivolously,  In a season of stark white emptiness and snow- clad February. Romance had a bitter price to pay--- Maroons and scarlets of the roses burnt to ashes drab gray! It creeps in with the brush with a bramble bush Ripping dreams apart with the evanescence of the heart's first gush. True,
