HEAVENLY NECTAR
Shredded ,grated and ground to a paste
With chillies and tamarind, this is the signature south Indian taste
With vegetables and tempering it becomes a mouth watering dish
In kheers and payasam coconut milk is an ambrosia served with a flourish
In ice creams and oils, chocolates and pastries
Coconut has its place in cuisines varied
On top of cakes with a smattering light
In piña coladas it's a connoisseur's delight
An offering to Gods on auspicious days and in temples
Coconut is sacred and decorated with vermilion and turmeric on some days special
Soft on the inside, tender is the pulp
During high summer, a respite to the soul is coconut water
It emerges from what we call a kalpavriksha, it's nothing less than sweet heavenly nectar.
