This is the reimagined version of the classic tale---The Bridge To Terabithia. This Fanfic is a part of my NaNoWriMo or Novel Writing November exercise 2025.                        FROSTED FIRES  May Belle sauntered into Trenton's Diner, her eyes scanning the room with a calculated intent, until they landed on Leonie sipping her coffee at the counter. A sly smile spread across her face as she made her way over, her boots clacking on the tiled floor, echoing the sharp beat of the tension she seemed to bring with her. The diner, usually a haven of warm chatter and the aroma of freshly baked pastries, fell into a brief hush as she approached. Her smile grew wider as she took a seat beside Leonie, the vinyl stool creaking slightly under her weight. Her gaze drifted to Johanna, who was busy pouring coffee for a group of locals, the rich scent of the brew filling the air. "Hey, Jo, top o...

CHAPTER 12 BRIDGING MEMORIES: TERABITHIA RECLAIMED

TRENTON'S DINER  The warm morning sun streamed through the expansive windows of Trenton's Diner, casting a golden glow over the worn wooden booths and the chrome-edged counter, where Johanna was pouring coffee with practiced ease. Her curly brown hair was neatly tied back in a ponytail, and a sprinkle of freckles danced across her nose as she flashed a welcoming smile at Jesse. Johanna, Trenton's younger sister, had a knack for making everyone feel at home in the diner – she was the heartbeat of the place, moving with a quiet efficiency that belied her bubbly personality. The air was thick with the irresistible aromas of freshly brewed coffee, applewood-smoked bacon sizzling to perfection, and flaky Virginia ham biscuits wafting from the kitchen. Trenton, ever the taskmaster, moved with efficient precision, a permanent scowl etched on his face as he fli...

It is a part of my NaNoWriMo or the Novel Writing November Exercise.                        CARVING MILES  Leonie's mind replayed the scene at the Aarons' dining table, her face burning with humiliation. May Belle's words tore at her heart making her feel like a stranger, an outsider. The more she thought about it, the more her hurt swirled.  Why did May Belle have to be so cruel? Didn't she know how much Leonie valued the Aarons' kindness? The warmth and laughter they shared, the sense of belonging – all of it was shattered now. Leonie's eyes prised open, and she saw the truth: a new neighbor they were pitying. The thought made her stomach churn with shame. She would put an end to this phase of lunch get together.  Gathering her shredded dignity, Leonie stood stone faced at the fence, her h...

This is a part of my NaNoWriMo or the Novel Writing November Exercise .               A WALK IN THE MOONSHINE   That afternoon, Leonie's eyes lit up as she turned to Ellen. "Ellen, I have an idea. If you don't mind, could you hide Patches in the bookshop? I can keep an eye on it when I work here, and it'll be safe from May Belle ." Ellen's face broke into a warm smile. "That's a wonderful idea, Leonie! The bookshop is the perfect place for Patches. And no one will ever dream of looking for it here! We can set up a cozy little spot for it in the herb garden. No one ever goes there except me to water the plants. Patches can freely romp about in an outdoor space without any fear. I wouldn't even mind if the wee critter chomps on some of my home grown coriander or parsley ." Leonie's excitement grew as she envisioned Pa...

This is a part of my NaNoWriMo or the Novel Writing November Exercise.                  A GAZE FROM THE PAST  Leonie's eyes widened in horror as May Belle's threats escalated, her voice growing louder and closer. As she closed the bedroom door, she heard May Belle's furious footsteps storming up the path to Rosemont Greene's front door. The incessant ringing of the doorbell got on Leonie’s nerves. She held her breath. Patches' tiny heart beat against her chest where she held the kit protectively. Maybelle thumped on the door impatiently. Leonie hesitated, unsure of what to do. She couldn't just ignore it. Hiding lil Patches in her wardrobe, she took a deep breath and steeled herself to open the door to face May Belle's twisted, angry face. May Belle's expression changed in an instant, her face morphing into a mask of innocence. "Leonie, dear, have you seen ...
