BENEATH A STARRY SKY
When the leaves were olive green and burgeoning, lushly unfurling
The air, laden with aroma of wild roses, jessamine infusing
The sky was a celebration of blue, the sun of gold
Only respite when colours muted and moon was luminescent cold
Violet duvet was pulled down on relentless sun rays
Celestial sugar sprinkles emerged like diamonds on display
A million miles away pulsing and beaming at star gazers
'Twas a special kind of Iris black to hold up
All the stars in its arms and velvety cradles
Chirps of crickets, hoots of owls serenaded us on camping nights
Near the still waters of the lake reflecting a full moon
The earth yearned to get drenched
In sweet honeyed drops of rainy symphony
When dusty brown changed to decadent mahogany
Argentine moon cast dappled shadows through flickering leaves
Skin adorned with perspiration,
For a caress of cool air it pleads
The wrath of flame sparked summer is at its zenith
A shade is novelty and luxury, summer nights are sans mirth.
Angels span their cocooning wings sheltering us from heady air
Beneath a benevolent explosion of starry flair
The darker the night, the sweeter is their song
They will glimmer until rosy hues come waltzing along…
