BURNISHED JEWELS
The verdure opened up to skies of ivory
Windswept raindrops waltzed on a morning blustery
Perching on petals of blue orchids and Canterbury bells
Shimmering lapis lazuli and dreamy beryls
In the boreal mist I heard heavenly chants of distant thunder
Nascent light danced in the heath and blazing summer became milder
The knolls and lea soaked in the honeyed sweetness
Fragrance of pine and cedar was rife in the wilderness
The pattering on my window is a soothing symphony
Snuggling longer under a patchwork quilt warm and cozy
Sleepy-eyed I watch pearly drops tumble to the rhythm of the billows
Garments of white gossamer embrace the aspen and willows
Champagne sunlight washes over serein dewy
On blossoms of chamomile and jessamine on trellis
Luscious berries are scintillant gemstones
Burnished garnets and pewter under dripping pinecones
Barefooted I walk through the satiny clover beds and ferns swirly
Embroidered upon the hedges are laurel florid drenched and droopy
Wistful and whimsical are the lilting duets of the rippling brooks
Haunting songs of thrushes and larks bring the breath back in the vales and woods.
