PURPLE CARNIVAL

On a clear Autumn evening, I'm a whole lot differently in love with the splash of feeble purple on the dusking skies, a hybrid of Lavender laced with Heather.

It's a garden of blooms with streaks of Fuchsia and Mulberry, a medley of regalia.

A pale Violet is the the vintage elegance of my timeless sundress as I twirl away to my heart's content, the cares of the world jettisoning away on the puffs of dandelions.

Plum is the zing of the freshness a wine ushers in on a barbeque evening. The seasonal blueberry ice cream bars with drizzles of Lilac are the cool respite I look forward to with a side of Grape sorbet !

Byzantine is a powerful stance as I hold my audience captive.

An incandescent Mauve is soothing with a tone and forthcoming promises.

A lustrous Amethyst Rose Quartz dangling on my bracelet is the crystal of my choice dazzling my Crown Chakra.

Periwinkle is a whisper of a charming desire of the heart.

Iris, although dainty, exudes confidence rooted and balanced.

Cornflower and Orchid blended in an encrusted tiara marks a gorgeous splendor. .

Wisteria is an enigma yet speaks to my soul, is in sync with my heartbeat and a cosmic serenade we had promised each other.

All the moods and hues of purple are sacred, an aura radiating Sapphire dust.

A purple jamboree is in my stride , humming and waltzing into the groove of a silvery moonlit night of the deepest Indigo empyrean.

A~Z BLOGGING CHALLENGE THEME REVEAL 2026

Still indecisive 🤔  The commitment is intimidating, yet this will be my third year of participation that makes me want it to come full circle. Third time's a charm it's said. In 2024, I posted 26 blogs from A~Z--micro fiction, long stories, short stories, poems ( oh yes!) in a motley of genres Magic Realism, Surrealism, also a Creature Horror, a Sci Fi thriller *( in dedication to David Duchovny from X-files who was a crushing heartthrob back in my ancient days haha 😆)* all which can be concised into a broader group --FANTASY ! That was my debut year in the Bloggers world and I completed the event with a flourish. **** 2025 was a year. I had to suspend the event midway through it and fly urgently back home for the major part of April. The theme then was a Mixed Bag.  Reflections, Lifestyle, Wellness and Self Care principles were the topics I touched upon with A~Z titles all in foreign languages. That was the USP of my blogging challenge last year.  A mini fantas...

FIRSTS AND SECONDS

The day began like any other August morning in Singapore but the nip in the air embraced me a bit tenderly today and I just wanted that extra dose of coziness.  August 21st ! Today marks a significant milestone in my life - the anniversary of my open heart surgery . It's a day I'll never forget, a day that gave me a second chance at life. As I look back on the past year, I'm filled with gratitude and awe at the journey I've been on. An Open Heart Surgery and a collateral damage of a minor stroke that had left my limbs immobilized on the left side whilst in the ICU right after shifting from the OT .  A gruesome 7 hrs must have gone by before I regained consciousness and informed them about it. I was hurriedly wheeled in for an MRI which revealed a tiny clot which must have occurred when I was plugged into the heart-lung machine during the surgery. A 3% chance of freak accident I signed a disclaimer for.  With swift action from the team of cardiologists and neurolo...

MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

Browsing through a quaint market on the streets of Aramza , Veron stopped at stall which sold souvenirs at discounted prices. An oval shaped mirror with a gem studded edging caught her eye. The vendor told her those were only imitation stones and not real gems. He sold it to her at a throwaway price. With a glint in his eyes, he counted the money and flashed her a wide toothed smile.  Back home after a weary journey by air, she unpacked her belongings and hung the exotic mirror in the hallway. The next evening, as she went to switch on the lights in the foyer, she noticed something strange. The glass had clouded over! Unable to understand what was going on, she rubbed it with her sleeve. Nothing! The fogging seemed to get denser. The weather was clear and there was no way a mirror in the hallway could get steamed over. Panic rose inside her when she realized that a mist was swirling inside the mirror! She clamped her palms to her mouth when a faint writing appeared on the glass. “D...

A 'SLICE' OF LIFE

Prompt: In 500 words, write a story you always wanted to. No genre constraints. Pull the rug with the last line such that it changes the entire context of your story. ***** Plodding through the ankle deep snow in the fading light, Zoe couldn't wait to get indoors. The street leading to the colony was deserted and the neighboring houses were empty as everyone was away for the holidays.  The shadows cast by the streetlights looked unusually eerie in the icy silence. A slight ruffle in the breeze made her jump out of her skin! As she turned her head warily, a flier fluttering on the lamppost outside the house caught her attention. Zoe ripped it off to have a closer look and her eyes widened.   Serial killer at large! Extra caution for girls especially if you're a redhead residing in and around Lyndale District. Report to the nearest police station if sighted.  A familiar face, the same one doing the rounds on primetime on this sensational news was now on fliers. These...
