MERRY MONARCHS

MERRY MONARCHS  On wispy and gossamer wings of gilded lace Emerging from a closed vault, full of grace Like a warrior braving the sun or storm She's the butterfly with a courage to fearlessly transform Ballerinas of the gardens, meadows and glen  With gowns of bright blue, vibrant orange or sparkling golden Kissing the dew from buds and hearts of roses From nasturtiums to foxgloves spinning in merry circles Pieces of rainbows waltzing on every blossom  Exuberant monarchs of the summer season On frail white wings with a silken hush Flaunting their wings of splendor like divas stylish  Quenching their thirst with honey and nectar If they could sing, the skies they would conquer Sent by angels she's a harbinger She inspires us to endure, a true bellwether! ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Pic Courtesy: Pixabay

CROWNED SENTINEL

CROWNED SENTINEL Rising like a citadel and whispering to the skies  The majestic mountains are crowned in white and dressed in green With snow and glacial rivers bouncing off  sunbeams and sheen Rocky crests nestle amongst them–air so pristine,  With a medley of jocund songs of birds, their calls and cries The deep blue waters on their unbroken laminate idolize Reflecting these richly clothed regal queens on the scene Frills of lacy clouds float along a motley of ashen and aquamarine  Pebbled rocky path shines silver-chrome in the moonlight serene, It's a dream to behold when they shimmer against a tangerine sunrise. ©️ Sangeetha Kamath Pic Courtesy: Pixabay

SNUG HAVEN

SNUG HAVEN  A little cottage painted in a chirpy canary  and ivory white With an archway of pink catherine roses pastel and bright  The walls are adorned with olive green ivy leaves There's a backyard full of laden pear and burgeoning apple trees  A blooming garden with hedgerows of rhododendron and fringes of hydrangeas Creepers of swaying purples, a bower of wisterias  Wafting from my kitchen is an aroma of lemon and cinnamon   Box beds of basil, rosemary and tomatoes all  homegrown A place that feels like a tight hug Warm and snug, embracing like a paisley rug Where the roads are calmer and the streets are quieter Silence is broken only by bird songs and the claps of thunder  Lantern lights cast mellow shine through the mauve eventide A dreamy lighthouse in the distance amid rolling waves along the seaside Sitting by a crackling fireplace wit...

JAZZ OF JULY ( Published)

JAZZ OF JULY  Summer dances upon the meadow with a paisley of ferns and wildflowers  The sun is swimming high, rich with long golden hours The jade and olive rise up to meet a cobalt blue sky on cloudless days The radiant sun wraps us in her warm and brilliant rays Winter chills are now a forgotten memory tucked away in a closet  The foliage is a verdant and lush masterpiece of Monet Blooms of hyacinths, hydrangeas, foxgloves and peonies  Butterflies and honey bees flit over the dandelions and daisies  It's a choreography and concert of petaled graffiti  A sway and sashay in the aromatic breeze of these florid glitterati The sky dazzles ocean blue and the sun is a jazz of the brightest yellow hue  Crystal lakes shine silver in the full moon argentine shimmer There's a warmth in every tinkling la...

EMBER

EMBER  The moonlight drapes your dreams The stars are the embellishing sequins Yank on the tethers, heave out of the confines of the nadir Only puppets dance on strings, zenith awaits you to savour the elixir When daybreak splinters and you see a piece of sky Seize it for yourself gliding above the livid clouds on the cyan high The journey is weary, the destination unknown The sun shines golden across the pastures and the vast ocean Emerge from the dismal abyss and caves Skim the surf, like an albatross pirouetting on the rolling waves Like the butterflies and the bees gathering perfume by the hour You were born to fly, never let the spark die  You still harbor those glowing embers Raze every hurdle and obstacle like the formidable Nor'wester  The cocoon was once your safe home, let it no longer be a comfort zone Ride the breeze, your skill and craft you must pol...

AND WE ALL FALL DOWN!

AND WE ALL FALL DOWN! Willow Grove  November,1980 First, there were the letters. No identification, no stamp. The content inside was a single sheet of stark white paper and a single line which said, 'Own up before it's too late.' Taking it as a prank by the neighborhood kids, Drake would tear them into shreds and toss them into the trash bin. And then, the spate of harassment began. The letters wouldn't stop. As much as he ignored them, they arrived daily. The same single line, in every letter.  The houses here in Willow Grove were few and far between. Taking angry strides while fuming at the letter in hand, he faced the desolate, winding road in front of his gate, hurling abuses at no one in particular. He didn't dare go to the authorities, for fear that they would in turn, question him and dig up his past to see what he was supposed to 'own up' to. The letters were always hand delivered and that was worrying.  Retu...

OMEGA

OMEGA  And we knew this would come to an end Every day, every moment, every uphill road and every bend Set in gold, a whisper of a dream embroidered on organza, regally  Letting go of everything, feeling free and light finally  A journey in multiple frames of chronicling and leaving  There are seasons of happy endings Cozy fireplaces to reminisce summer laughter lilting Autumn in her carnival clothes breathtaking  Walking miles in the arid deserts, I had a thousand reasons to go A million to stay  In search of warmer kingdoms to escape November freeze Migrating are a convoy of starlings and geese Timeless! No beginning, no end Pieces of me are everywhere, I never went away  Watching a thousand sunsets, horizons streaked in ribbons of blazing glitter  With promises of a prussian canvas and diamond dust splatter Stars sizzle to a vapor at dawn, retreating and...
