The boulevards were gilded with gold, yet all roads don't lead to Oz
The picture perfect sky above was a shimmering puddle of the brightest hue
A placid lake of cornflower blue but not for long
When twilight descends with saturnine indigo and onyx songs
Springtime of powder puff clouds and Sakura blooms
Make way for the coronation of the snow queen and her icy rain
Pewter skies rumble and shrouds the cityscape with a glacial cloak
Mustering a ounce of valor the shy wintry sun peeking at the horizon cast a glow in a diluted tint of apricot
In the throes of a wanderlust I set out to catch the elusive beam
It was always just of reach even from the highest rocky tops and snow-clad peaks
The terrain rose to meet my soles, the blizzards catapulting me further
Towards the autumn light and across distant shores of oceans voluminous,
With a golden compass on a quest so uncanny,
To seek a greener patch of grass was a futile journey
The curves and the turns, over the dales and sloping valleys
The crossroads were puzzling, the dead ends perplexing
Juniper, pine, jade and lime, the right shade of green was a dollar a dime!
Navigating my way back I arrive at my sanctuary
From a sojourn so defeated I propped my easel and a canvas
Painted my own sunshine and meadows splattered with swards harlequin and grasses smaragdine
The masterpiece was mine to unfurl with inks and quills that was my own Holy Grail !
