AULD LANG SYNE
The cliffs rise magnificently from the turquoise depths like citadels
Weathering storms, carved by oceanic brine, standing tall like sentinels!
The sun-warmed sand glistens with a puce, primrose fire
Lacy surfs waltzes in waves of aquamarine and sparkling sapphire!
As skies are slowly streaked with tangerine and burnt sienna,
I make my way back to the burnished cabana…
Sparkling sunbeams through the rain kissed air,
Adorns the expanse of metallic mottled cloud
With a kaleidoscopic tiara arching so proud
Dappled light on rain drenched soil cinnabarine
Sparkle like liquid pools of honeyed sunshine
When the frost of bleak winter, bites and pricks,
A marmalade glow sunset heralds warmer days
Promises us the much-awaited summer camps and picnics…
The yellow of every sunny dream, fruits under a strong sun,
Of sweet petals and garden galas
'Twas the colour of childhood happiness
And the brightest of spring flowers
Inky velvet of midnight asks me to pause a while…
While the sun is on a trip around the world, darling mine,
Why don't you revel instead in the twinkle of starshine?
Look within you, say the pulsing starlight
You are powerful! Don't quit without a fight!
