MOTHER-'O-PEARL
Your opaline, pearly luminescence bewitched me
That night when you were in your full glory!
The shivery willow trees were dancing silhouettes
In the moonlight cinereal…
In the summer air replete with spilling fragrance
Of damask roses and blooming jessamine
The heady milieu tingled my senses
Even as I reached out for tealights and aromatic candles
Your halo cast a moonbow, a silver streak,
Which tiptoed in through my window
I gazed and reveled at your multitudinous phases,
Crescent or an argentine mass of gibbous
Some days you totally evanescence, only to return and say
"I was only gone a while...did you miss me, truly?"
You're still my symbolism, my surrealism,
O! Opal of the celestine empyrean!
Even a moonless night causes tidal waves
Or towering tsunamis!
You always remind me whether I shine radiantly,
Or am eclipsed, or in slices, my presence can't be denied.
